Hutcheon Mearns is delighted to support our client, an organisation known for excellence in their field, to recruit for a Senior Management Accountant.  Based within easy reach of Dundee and North Fife, this organisation offers an excellent working environment with new office facilities, free parking and onsite canteen facilities.  Working in a hybrid working pattern offering a minimum of 2 days per week in the office, this is a flexible employer who offer market-leading terms and conditions of employment.  As a Senior Management Accountant within the finance team, you will take on a Finance Business partnering role, providing robust financial advice and support to departments across the organisation. 

The Opportunity 

Reporting to the Head of Finance - Business Partnering, you will work within a team of Senior Management Accountants and will each be responsible for providing insightful and data-led financial analysis including monthly income and expenditure analysis, variance analysis, budget review and forecasting updates.  You will support the submission of statutory returns and provide input into the annual accounts process as well as take responsibility for budget setting and planning processes for your allocated business areas.  Building strong relationships with non-finance stakeholders will be crucial, allowing for robust financial analysis and driving financial accountability.  In this role, you will manage a small team and be responsible for supporting and developing this team, in addition to ensuring high performance.  

This organisation has recently implemented an ERP system and joining the organisation at this point offers an excellent opportunity to become involved in improvement projects around processes, controls and enhancing efficiency.  

Background and Experience

This is a fantastic opportunity to join a forward thinking team in an organisation that can offer development opportunities.  To be successful in this application, you will; 

  • Be a Qualified Accountant ( CA/ACCA/ACMA/CIPFA)
  • Have experience working in a sizeable organisation with large data sets
  • Have experience in a Finance business partnering role - working closely with non-finance stakeholders to communicate and interpret financial performance
  • Have a continuous improvement mindset 
  • Have experience using an ERP system and Excel (ideally large data sets)
  • Ideally have experience in a project accounting environment, although not essential 
  • Have a proven track record of achieving deadlines 
  • Have some experience of managing a team
