Hutcheon Mearns are delighted to be recruiting, on an exclusive basis, for a Senior Finance Officer to join a Perth-based charitable trust.  As the lead finance role in a £4.5mill turnover organisation, this position manages a small team of 2 and reports into the CEO, providing a comprehensive financial management and accounting service.  This is a dynamic and innovative organisation, embedded in the local community and striving to make positive contributions to peoples' lives. 

The Opportunity

The Senior Finance Officer, is responsible for the integrity and efficiency of the organisations' financial accounting processes and systems, ensuring effective controls are in place.  Using accountancy software Xero, you will ensure the preparation of monthly management accounts, statutory accounts and statistical returns including VAT in a timely manner.  In conjunction with the Chief Executive and Senior Management team, you will prepare and monitor the annual budget and will reconcile fundraising income.  You will manage the cashflow and preparation of monthly cashflow reports as well as ensuring the correct allocation of funding to projects, monitoring spend against budgets.  

You will manage the key relationships with auditors, banks, outsourcing partners and payroll providers and ensure appropriate returns and statutory obligations are met.  You will prepare regular financial reports for the Senior Management team, Board and Trustees, as well as external funders.  Managing a small team of 2, you will support the development and training of these individuals as well as ensuring the integrity of all transactional finance processes. 

The Candidate

To be suitable for this role, you need to be a commercially aware Qualified Accountant (ACCA/ACMA/CA) or have a proven track record in a relevant finance role.  

The ideal candidate will have; 

  • Experience of delivering end to end financial reporting in a small / medium sized organisation 
  • Experience of managing staff 
  • Experience of producing year-end accounts and liaising with auditors
  • Experience if using Xero Financial systems 
  • Experience of Charity SORP 
  • Excellent communication skills 
  • A solutions-focussed and pro-active approach 
  • An ability to work to deadlines and with high accuracy
