Hutcheon Mearns have been engaged by a successful, PE backed business to source a Senior Accountant on a full time, staff basis. Our client provides a range of services across renewables, oil and gas and ocean services. This newly created role will be based in Kingswells on a hybrid basis. Our client is going through a period of growth, so this presents an exciting opportunity for candidates looking to progress their career.

This is a varied, hands-on role where you will play a crucial role in managing financial records, ensuring accuracy in financial reporting, preparing management accounts and budgeting/forecasting. To be considered, you will be fully qualified with either practice or industry experience. Our client is offering an excellent salary and benefits package.

The Opportunity 

  • Support the production of annual accounts, including preparing financial statements and related documentation
  • Assist in the preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports
  • Perform manual data entry tasks to ensure the accuracy and completeness of financial data
  • Conduct balance sheet reconciliations to identify and resolve discrepancies
  • Maintain and update the general ledger and ensure proper documentation of financial transactions
  • Collaborate with the finance team to ensure compliance with accounting standards and regulations
  • Provide support during internal and external audits
  • Analyse financial data to identify trends, variances, and opportunities for improvement
  • Participate in financial planning and budgeting processes
  • Assist in the development and implementation of accounting policies and procedures

Background and Experience

  • ACCA, ICAS, ICAEW, CIMA Qualified (or equivalent)
  • Either an audit background in a professional practice firm or industry-based accounting experience (or a mix of both)
  • Motivation to learn
  • Highly numerate and willingness to be hands on
  • Team player
  • Strong communication skills
  • Ability to liaise and interact with internal and external stakeholders
