Hutcheon Mearns recently met with the owner of this successful independent accountancy and business advisory firm. While it has been a hard two years for many self-employed and small businesses there are more new start-ups and established small companies thriving in Norfolk. Continued growth means the firm need to add to the team to ensure a client focused service. Based in the centre of Norwich, the firm genuinely works proactively with small business owners, firstly to ensure accurate accounts and tax returns are completed and then to provide ongoing support and advice. They give the business owner the time to get on with their job.

The ideal candidate must have at least 2 years’ experience in an accountancy practice. Part qualified ACCA or AAT, or strong relevant experience. Have used Quickbooks, Xero or TaxCalc, and MS Office.  Worked in a client facing role, having day to day contact with business owners, marketing the firms services to new clients. Duties will be varied including:

  • Limited company, Sole Trader, and Partnership accounts preparation
  • Bookkeeping
  • VAT return preparation
  • Personal tax returns preparation.
  • Liasing with HMRC
  • Company secretarial duties.
  • Assisting with Payroll
  • Helping clients become digital, migrating clients’ accounts to new system
