Management Accountant

Hutcheon Mearns are delighted to be working with a Dundee based engineering group to recruit for a Management Accountant to join their team.  You will join an organisation with international interests and a rich history and track record in their field.  You will join an innovative business with a diverse client base across a number of sectors and operations spread across the globe.   Reporting into the Finance Manager, you will take on a key role in the team, preparing the management accounts for several entities within the group.  This is a fantastic opportunity for an individual with proven management accounting experience to add value to the business and learn more about this dynamic industry. 

The Opportunity 

This job role will be a varied position, involving the "ownership" of the P&L and balance sheet reporting for entities within the group.  You will have exposure to the operations of the business and interaction with key stakeholders across different departments.  

As the Management Accountant, your role will involve; 

  • Preparation of management accounts for 3 entities within the group 
  • Balance sheet reconciliations 
  • Calculation of deferred / accrued revenue
  • Variance analysis - provision of commentary to non-finance managers
  • Preparation of intercompany matrix 
  • Sales invoicing for 1 entity 
  • Reviewing and approvals for purchase invoice process
  • Intercompany invoicing for group 
  • Monthly VAT returns (UK and international entities) 
  • Extracting, checking and preparing payroll data to issue to outsourced payroll company 
  • Preparation of wages journals and appropriate recharges 
  • Review and approve payment runs 
  • Support Accounts Assistants with queries 
  • Statutory returns - ONS / HMRC 

The Candidate

You will have proven experience of preparing management accounts, bringing context to the numbers through variance analysis and commentary.  You may be a Qualified Accountant or Qualified by Experience / Part-Qualified with relevant experience.  You will have strong experience using Microsoft Excel to manage and organise financial data as well as experience with accountancy software (ideally an ERP system).  

You will be a pro-active individual who will embrace problem solving and can work to reporting deadlines.  You will enjoy learning about the business to be able to bring the financial information to life for non-finance stakeholders.

You will receive a competitive salary, contributory pension scheme (5% matched) and paid professional qualification subscriptions, if applicable.  Hours of work are 37.5 hours per week with a 2pm finish on a Friday.  This is an office-based role. There is free parking available and the area is serviced by public transport.  There is flexibility on start/finish times.
