Hutcheon Mearns have been engaged by an oil service company to source a Management Accountant on a full time, staff basis. This role will be based in Altens with hybrid and flexible working. This presents an excellent opportunity for candidates looking for career progression in a growing business.
This role will be responsible for preparing monthly management accounts to aid decision making, balance sheet reconciliations, P&L trends, quarterly VAT returns, budgeting and providing support with the external audit. To be considered, you will be currently in a management accounting role with the ability to hit the ground running. You must be comfortable working in a fast-paced environment and enjoy working in a small team.
The Opportunity
- Preparation of monthly management accounts in line with internal close timeline
- Preparation of monthly balance sheet reconciliations for review and follow up to clear reconciling items on a timely basis
- Review Profit & Loss trends and provide variance analysis to budget and prior year
- Review of margins on customer accounts and products
- Provide Financial Insights to the UK organisation in order to guide and aid decisions
- Proactive daily follow up on open balances on customer accounts
- Completion of quarterly VAT
- Support budgeting process
- Provide support during annual external audit
- Provide support on Accounts Payable to accounts assistants
- Support on controls improvement initiatives across the Organisation and identify areas for improvement
Background and Experience
- ACCA/CIMA/ICAS, working towards accreditation or QBE
- Previous experience of a fast-paced, high volume finance function is essential
- Previous experience and understanding of working within a matrix structure is preferred
- Excellent communication skills
- The ability to leverage written and verbal communication methods effectively
- Ability to identify and fulfil stakeholders’ requirements
- Ability to build and maintain customer relationships by proactively identifying and being responsive to customer needs and resolving customer problems as they arise
- Ability to foster collaboration to achieve shared company goals

- Strong communication and analytical skills required, including the ability to interpret and articulate business needs and challenges, and formulate pragmatic, effective recommendations
