Hutcheon Mearns have been engaged by a global E&P company to source a Lead Cost Engineer on a full time basis. This contract position is due to run for circa 18 months and is likely to be extended. This role is based in Aberdeen City Centre with hybrid working.
This role will lead the cost control, compliance and reporting for a vessel dry dock project. You must have extensive cost control experience and have operated at a Senior/Lead level.
The Opportunity
- Regularly interact with Project Team to develop robust weekly and monthly Project cost updates. To do this the individual will develop a thorough understanding of the Project, key contractual arrangements and the key cost drivers
- Development and maintenance of cost trackers to accurately monitor cost vs forecast and Project Sanction Budget
- Analyse key variances from Project Sanction Budget and previous month’s forecast and communicate these effectively to Management and JV Partners
- Provide information and highlight key issues to Project Team and Management on a routine and adhoc basis to allow them to better understand and manage costs including key cost opportunities and threats
- Meet with project team regularly to review and agree costs reporting to Management Teams
- Completion of campaign reconciliations
- Audit co-ordination for Team during joint venture partner audits
- Prepare analysis and commentary for Monthly Partner Reports
- Collate monthly value of work done (VOWD) estimates and critically review accrual levels to ensure that monthly financial reporting is accurate and reasonably represents the underlying business
- Provide corporate reporting team with understanding of costs and activity
- Preparation of AFE’s (Internal and External)
- Ensure Joint Operating Agreements and Production Sharing Contracts are observed
- Ensure and support invoice compliance and vendor audit
Background and Experience
- Experience of large scale Projects and Drydock campaigns (Preferred)
- The candidate will have at least five years oil and gas industry experience and have worked in a similar role for a minimum of three years
- Ability to coach more junior members of the team and provide leadership to the wider team if situation requires it
- A good working knowledge of Microsoft Excel is required to perform this role competently
- Experience of working with Maximo7.6, Vision and Microsoft Office applications will be an advantage although training will be given as required (Preferred)
- Good working knowledge of oil and gas exploration and production business
