The business sees the hire of a Group Financial Controller as a critical step to achieving these strategic goals and requires a high-calibre individual to act as steward to its financial infrastructure and reporting.

Position Overview

The newly appointed Group Financial Controller will report to the CFO and will serve as a key technical expert and financial advisor to the business.

As Group Financial Controller, you will oversee a team of accountants tasked with the production and presentation of consolidated monthly and annual financial reports in adherence to financial standards. You will hold responsibility for upholding the financial integrity of the business and will spearhead the enhancement of financial systems and controls to ensure seamless and efficient execution of critical financial processes such as month-end and year-end reporting.

Duties Include:

  • Manage a small team of accountants and coordinate cross-functional efforts, as needed, to ensure efficient business processes
  • Ensure the appropriate financial framework, including financial accounting and control systems, is in place to guide decision-making
  • Effective preparation and analysis of consolidated monthly management accounts
  • Comprehensive monthly presentation of financial results, highlighting key messages and trends
  • Responsible for the preparation and submission of group annual accounts in line with financial regulations
  • Manage reporting for external government bodies and customers
  • Ensure accounting and management information systems are appropriate, accurate, and effective
  • Contribute to future finance system processes and MI design requirements
  • Own and manage the audit process and investigations
  • Maintain a comprehensive understanding of active projects – leading and/or contributing where necessary
  • Support finance talent development and succession planning initiatives
  • Management of all Direct & Indirect taxes with professional services
  • Creation of accounting policies and procedures

Person Profile

To be considered for the role, you will:

  • Be a qualified accountant with significant post-qualification experience (PQE)
  • Have experience working in similar reporting and controls-oriented finance roles
  • Have strong leadership abilities and a track record of managing successful teams
  • Have strong technical knowledge and experience of group consolidated reporting– FRS 102 (essential)
  • Have a proven track record of driving process and systems enhancements
  • Have robust communication and collaboration skills
  • Have experience in food manufacturing or similar industries (advantageous)
