The Opportunity 

Reporting into the Group Finance Director, the successful candidate will play a critical role in the organisation acting as Number 2 to the Group FD and driving the finance function forward in line with the vision of the business.  The role will take on responsibility for UK and subsidiary reporting in addition to Finance Business Partnering, developing controls and enhancing compliance. 

Key responsibilities will include; 

  • Supporting the Finance Director to recruit, grow and develop the finance team 
  • Responsibility for completing the monthly accounts and associated KPIs for the UK and subsidiary businesses in accordance with the group timetable
  • Review of monthly departmental overheads with Department Leads
  • Preparation of the UK statutory accounts with commentary and variance analysis
  • Oversee the preparation of any government returns / tax returns including VAT, as required 
  • Ensuring budgets, forecasts and strategic plans are completed to agreed group timetables
  • Assisting in the development of reporting systems to ensure accounting activities are performed efficiently 
  • Investigating, reporting and working to resolve matters affecting business performance, providing financial advice to stakeholders 

Background and Experience

You will be a fully Qualified Accountant (ACCA/CIMA/CA) with experience operating in a fast-paced business.  You will have strong technical accounting skills coupled with the ability to build excellent working relationships with key stakeholders, providing financial advice and analysis.  Ideally, you will have worked in a group reporting environment and may have experience of preparing accounts for UK and international entities, ensuring compliance to appropriate regulations.  

You will have staff management experience and will have the ability to motivate and manage a team to deliver financial reports on an accurate and timely basis.  Working in an evolving group, you will have a continuous improvement mindset and would ideally have experience of developing reporting tools or systems to enhancing reporting capabilities.  You will have strong verbal and written communication skills and high attention to detail.
