Hutcheon Mearns are supporting a large and successful privately owned business to recruit a Group Finance Manager. This is a unique and exciting role based in Aberdeen and is responsible for the corporate reporting and ongoing financial management of the central accounting team and treasury function. Delivering financial control, budgeting and strategic planning forecasts, whilst maintaining ongoing relationships with a broad range of internal and external stakeholders.

Reporting to and working closely with the Group Finance Director, as well as alongside the Operations Finance Manager, the role is responsible for and supported by a central finance team of three.

Responsibilities:

  • Develop and maintain supportive relationships with internal and external stakeholders
  • Manage central banking administration as well as daily/weekly/monthly cash flow review at entity and Group level
  • Lead the collation of annual statutory accounts and the coordination of the annual audit
  • Support the ongoing development of the multi-faceted internal audit programme, which aims to not only ensure robust financial controls and regulatory compliance but also add value via the identification and sharing of best practice.
  • Directly add value via negotiation of key group level contracts e.g. electricity, gas, water plus general insurance as well as ad hoc costs vs benefits analysis reviews.
  • Reviewing support systems and control processes to ensure they are both robust and continually improved to seek efficiencies
  • Support monthly Group level review of payroll and associated MoM/YoY variances
  • Central contact and reference point on VAT and PAYE/NIC matters plus direct co-ordination and HMR&C liaison concerning any in-year taxation matters e.g. quarterly group VAT returns and QIP submissions plus annual P11ds and Corporation Tax computations.
  • Coordination of insurance claims management and key regulatory matters e.g. FCA returns.
  • Monitor and coordinate both management team and colleague car schemes.

Requirements

  • Qualified Chartered Accountant with 3-5 years of post qualifying experience
  • Proven delivery of financial control/management across a multi-site business
  • Ability to lead by example to support, drive and direct a developing team
  • Experienced in building relationships across all parts of a widespread business, along with partners and suppliers, with an ability to both receive and deliver pro-active questioning in a way that supports constructive challenge
  • Strong communication skills, including effective presentations that avoid accounting jargon and deliver a message that the audience can understand
  • Track record of taking responsibility and delivering agreed objectives accurately and on time
  • Responsible for ensuring that central accounting practices follow group policy as well as apply appropriate regulatory compliance and legislative standards
