Hutcheon Mearns are delighted to be supporting our client to recruit for the position of Group Financial Controller to join their team in Dundee. Our client is a global learning and development service provider, with a world-renowned product portfolio. Their clients include some of the world's largest blue-chip organisations. Our client is fully embracing hybrid working. They are therefore open to applications from candidates based further afield than the Greater Dundee area, who would be willing to commute a handful of times a month / when required.

Key Responsibilities:

  • As part of the Finance Leadership team, you will be responsible for formulating functional strategy including working to improve the processes and systems to deliver a best-in-class finance function.
  • Lead a team of finance professionals across the global footprint and complete the integration of all subsidiaries onto the Group systems, in association with the systems implementation manager.
  • Work with the systems implementation manager to make transaction processing more efficient across the business.
  • Collaborate to develop a robust Group consolidated balance sheet fully integrated across all entities and currencies.
  • Have active involvement in the Group’s annual consolidation and statutory reporting.
  • Involvement in the onboarding of the financial systems of any new acquisitions into the Insights Group.
  • Manage and develop your team ensuring that we have the right capability in place to manage the group controllership function across all international entities.
  • Ensure the company has the right financial policies and controls in place to limit the risk of fraud and secure an unqualified audit report annually.
  • Maintain oversight of all general ledger transactions ensuring that they correctly reflect accounting standards, the company finance and accounting policies and the business performance.
  • Leading the audit and statutory reporting team, securing unqualified audit reports and filing all statutory reports in accordance with filing deadlines.
  • Ensure there is a robust framework of balance sheet reconciliations and accruals in place including ensuring that the team conducting that activity can manage that responsibility.
  • Through the Group Controller and Treasurer, ensure that the company have appropriate banking and cash management arrangements in place that maintains liquidity within the entities while limiting the company forex risk.

  • A great communicator who builds long-lasting, trusted relationships with your team. You will have the gravitas to work effectively with our auditors, the Board, Executive and other senior stakeholders.
  • An outstanding technical accountant with the ability to relate regulatory changes to Insight’s business.
  • Ability to make policy decisions balancing the often-ambiguous requirements of regulatory requirements and the needs of the business.
  • A proactive thinker who will anticipate issues and solve them before they impact our business.
  • A systems thinker with the ability to connect accounting and finance decisions with implications across all disciplines within Insights.
