Hutcheon Mearns Finance is delighted to be supporting a global business based in Edinburgh in their search for a new Financial Accountant. This is a key position in the groups UK finance team who are looking for a finalist or newly qualified accountant to join a high performing finance team where you will have huge opportunities to progress & advance your career through promotion opportunities or internal moves to other finance divisions.
About the role:
- Full control & oversight of balance sheet reconciliations including allocation as part of month end cycle
- Monthly reconciliation of sub-ledger control account balances to the general ledger
- Preparing and posting month end journals
- Ensuring all balance sheet accounts and inter-company balances are routinely & robustly reconciled, analysed, challenged and evidenced in reporting currencies for the UK and overseas entities
- Preparing, posting and supporting of balance sheet accounts
- Preparing statutory financial statements in accordance with FRS102
- Be actively involved in the implementation of UK GAAP changes
- Collating and providing information requests as part of the year end audit process to external auditors
- The opportunity to be involved in new process and process improvement projects
About you:
- Finalist or newly qualified accountant (ICAS, ACCA, ICAEW or equivalent)
- Experience of working in a financial accounting or regulatory role including audit
- Experience of working in or with large, complex businesses
- Good knowledge of accounting standards including UK GAAP, IFRS/FRS102
- Strong working knowledge of MS Excel
- Strong communication and stakeholder engagement abilities
