Hutcheon Mearns have been exclusively engaged by an oil service company to source a Finance Manager on a full time, staff basis. Our client is a growing SME who provides engineering solutions to Oil & Gas, Decommissioning, Marine and Renewables. This is a fully remote role with occasional travel to Aberdeen and Shetland. This presents an excellent opportunity for candidates looking for career progression in a growing business.
This role covers both management reporting and financial reporting, as well as providing leadership to the existing finance team. To be considered, you will be a Qualified Accountant with extensive industry experience.
The Opportunity
- Preparation and completion of monthly management accounts
- Reconciliation between Xero and Business Management System
- Implementing new processes and improving current procedures including management of financial controls
- Preparing the group year end financial statements and associated disclosures
- Support the VAT / Tax preparation and submission and liaise with advisors
- Preparation of statutory accounts
- Approval and ownership of balance sheet recs including development of overall process
- Assisting with R&D Tax credit submission
- External audit including tracking and distribution of requests and providing information where appropriate
- Develop Project Financial Reporting for major projects
- Dealing with Vendors and managing payment expectations
- Preparation of month end WIP
- Preparation of month-end journal entries
- Assist on report yearly tax for Company income tax return with Tax consultant on data required
- Monitor daily cash position and prepare weekly Cash-flow forecasts
- Assist Commercial Director with Budget review and preparation
Background and Experience
- Previous experience of working in the oil and gas sector or similar
- Proven track record in building financial processes and procedures in a growing company
- Proven track record of leading a Finance Team
- Qualified accountant (ICAS, ACCA, CIMA or equivalent)
- Work independent with ability to work to tight deadlines
- Ability to communicate effectively with different stakeholders
- Ability to evaluate solutions in terms of business, financial and client impacts
