Finance Director

Hutcheon Mearns are working exclusively with a privately owned SME based in the North East of Scotland to find a dynamic and forward-thinking Finance Director to join their leadership team. This is a pivotal role, perfectly suited to an ambitious professional ready to lead and develop the finance team, shaping the strategic and operational direction of the group.

The Opportunity:

As Finance Director, you’ll do more than manage the numbers, you’ll drive performance beyond the balance sheet. I’m looking for someone who can translate financial insights into actionable business plans, ensuring financial strategy fuels growth and innovation across the organisation. This is a hands-on, commercially focused position for a leader with the vision, commitment, and drive to make a real impact.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead financial strategy, planning, and reporting
  • Oversee budgeting, forecasting, and cash flow management
  • Provide commercial insight to all aspects of the business and it’s strategy/decision making
  • Provide financial oversight across the business
  • Develop and nurture strong relationships with auditors, banks, and external stakeholders
  • Develop and mentor the finance team promoting high performance and continuous learning
  • Ensure compliance with financial regulations and internal controls

Background and Experience:

  • A qualified accountant with post-qualification experience at a senior leadership level (CA/ACCA/CIMA qualified).
  • Candidates who are “Qualified by Experience” will also be considered if they have a demonstrable and relevant track record
  • Strong IT skills and proficient in Microsoft Office programs
  • The ability to manage deadlines and thrive under pressure in a fast-paced environment
  • Strategic thinker with excellent leadership and communication skills and a proven ability to drive financial performance and support business growth
  • Exposure to housebuilding or construction is desirable, but not essential
