Hutcheon Mearns are delighted to be recruiting, on an exclusive basis, for an organisation with ambitious business development plans based in Fife.  We are seeking a Finance Business Partner whose expertise will directly influence the delivery of globally recognised events and pioneering sustainability initiatives.  By supporting strategic decision making and embedding robust financial processes, you will play a key role in achieving the organisation's long-term objectives in two distinct business areas, which will include growth into new locations globally.  If you are a Qualified Accountant, with an ability to work closely with non-finance stakeholders, this could be the ideal opportunity for you! 

The Role

As a Finance Business Partner, you will provide efficient financial reporting and analysis to senior internal and external stakeholders for multiple entities and projects. This will involve the preparation of financial information including P&L, spend and budget vs forecast analysis.  You will support the commercial and operational teams to make sound decisions by providing financial advice and insight to proposals and initiatives.  You will build trust-based relationships across the business, guiding management, budget stakeholders, and departments to integrate financial processes seamlessly and ensure workflows function effectively.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide stakeholders and executive management with budgets, forecasts, and spend data to support financial planning and analysis.
  • Challenge the business effectively to ensure operational, commercial and cost targets are met.
  • Partner with directors to develop annual commercial forecasts and budgets, ensuring alignment with profit objectives.
  • Collaborate with external advisors to maintain compliance with VAT and other financial regulations in international markets.
  • Develop financial models to assess the viability of new commercial opportunities, presenting insights to stakeholders.
  • Deliver financial guidance to ensure essential controls, processes, and workflows operate effectively across the business.
  • Conduct financial due diligence on potential new commercial partners to assess financial strength and present findings to senior management.
  • Partner with finance systems teams to develop monthly financial information packs and support the delivery and integration of a purchase order system implementation 
  • Support statutory compliance in collaboration with external auditors.

The Candidate

To excel in this role, you will need:

  • A professional accounting qualification (CA, ACA, ACCA, or CIMA).
  • Proven experience in financial reporting, budgeting, and forecasting - gained in either professional practice or industry
  • Strong communication skills, with a track record of building effective relationships
  • Extensive knowledge of finance systems and processes.
  • Intermediate proficiency in Excel and PowerPoint.
