Hutcheon Mearns are delighted to be recruiting, on an exclusive basis, for a Finance Business Partner for an innovative business based in Arbroath, Angus. You will join an organisation whose team strive for excellence in their sector, seeking efficiency in their processes to optimise results. Reporting to the Group Financial Controller and supporting the Senior Finance Manager, you will play a key role in the reporting and analysis of financial results whilst ensuring robust financial control. You will join a company on a journey to develop its IT and reporting systems, seeking a pro-active Qualified Accountant to join their team.
The Opportunity
As the Finance Business Partner, your role will involve interaction with the business, ensuring the delivery and interpretation of financial analysis and monthly accounts to the team. You will produce monthly financial reports, providing insights in the results to business managers and will support the wider finance team in the completion of group accounts. Your role will include;
- Preparation of monthly accounts, liaising with colleagues across the business to gain relevant information
- Balance sheet reconciliations ensuring issues are resolved in a timely manner
- Preparing and investigating monthly variance reports - comparing actuals to budgets and forecasts and providing robust analysis and recommendations
- Monthly journal completion (accruals/ prepayments/ fixed assets / HP / payroll)
- Preparing monthly departmental reports for discussion with budget holders
- Support cashflow preparation and monitoring
- Prepare and review VAT and Intrastat return
- Prepare year-end schedule in line with agreed timetable
- Review the monthly payroll processing by third party provider
- Foreign currency forecasting and management
Background and Experience
You will be a Qualified Accountant (ACCA/CA/CIMA) with a pro-active and inquisitive nature. You will have strong experience of financial management and controls particularly balance sheet reconciliations. You will have strong communication skills and a solutions-focused mentality. As the business is evolving systems and processes, you will have an interest in making improvements to enhance reporting and efficiency. You will have the ability to work on your own initiative and as part of a team, achieving deadlines, working collaboratively with the wider finance team.
