Hutcheon Mearns are delighted to be supporting a manufacturing business based in Brechin to recruit for a Finance Analyst to join their team, reporting into the Financial Controller.  Joining a circa £14mill t/o business that is part or a larger international group, you will take on the key role as number 2 to the Financial Controller, ensuring the provision of financial, cost and management accounting to the business.   Working in an organisation that prides itself on its' family-feel culture, this is a fantastic opportunity to take on a varied and challenging role in an interesting business with a diverse customer base worldwide. 

The Opportunity

This will be a varied position which will involve month-end close accounting processes, sales reporting and year-end accounting.  Working within a fast-paced environment, you will support the Senior Management team by providing weekly sales projections, liaising with appropriate departments and stakeholders.   You will provide management with weekly and monthly KPI reporting and a finance pack detailing costs, variances (such as Purchase Price Variance/Production analysis) and inventory information.  Working within a larger group, you will ensure that you are working in line with internal and external audit controls and will work closely with the Financial Controller to ensure compliance with reporting requirements. 

In addition to the performance reporting, you will support month-end processes which will include processing payment runs, VAT returns, journals and balance sheet reconciliations.  Alongside the HR Manager, you will support the payroll process and ensure the submission of appropriate returns.  You will support the Financial Controller at quarter and year-end and liaise with colleagues across the Group. 

Background and Experience 

  • CIMA or ACCA qualified (or finalist/part-qualified with experience) ideally with experience in a manufacturing environment 
  • Strong analytical skills and excellent attention to detail
  • Proficiency using Microsoft Excel
  • Ability to prioritise and manage own workload and achieve deadlines 
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills 
  • Pro-active nature and ability to engage with stakeholders across the business
  • Highly desirable would be experience of using ERP systems such as SAP 

Flexibility and Benefits 

  • This role offers a 37 hour working week with a 12noon finish on a Friday 
  • Working pattern would ideally be minimum of 4 days in the office due to the interactive nature of the role within the business
