We are recruiting for the post of Director of Finance & Corporate Services to join the Senior Management Team due to the upcoming retirement of the current postholder.
The Role
Reporting to the Chief Executive and working closely with the Board, you will take on a lead role in safeguarding AHA's financial sustainability while shaping strategy and supporting change. Your responsibilities will include:
- Overseeing financial management long-term planning and treasury functions
- Preparation and oversight of statutory returns, annual accounts and regulatory submissions
- Ensuring strong governance, compliance and risk management, responsible for financial systems and internal controls
- Leading HR, IT, pensions and insurance functions
- Guiding and developing a small, highly capable team (3 direct reports, overseeing team of 6)
- Management of funding processes for new build and investment projects, including assessment of cashflow impact
- Providing clear, timely, high-quality reporting to the CEO, Board and regulators
This is a hands-on leadership role, suited to someone who enjoys working in a focused, collaborative environment where decisions are made quickly and constructively.
The Candidate
We are looking for a qualified Accountant with significant senior experience in finance, ideally within housing, public, or third sectors. You'll bring;
- A strong track record in financial planning, compliance and audit
- Experience managing teams and developing staff
- The ability to explain complex financial issues clearly to different audiences
- Confidence in leading change and improving processes
- A professional, pragmatic approach that fits with AHA open and supportive culture
What's On Offer
This is an opportunity to take on a senior role in an organisation that combines financial strength with a clear social purpose.
- Salary: £84,000 - £93,332 (six-scale, starting at £84,000 with annual increments until full rate is reached, plus annual cost-of-living awards)
- Car allowance totalling approximately £1,500 per annum
- Hybrid and flexible working - 35 hours per week (Monday to Friday, 1 day working from home per week)
- Opportunity to accrue up to 19 days of flexi-time annually
- Defined contribution pension - AHA matches up to 10% employee contribution
- 29 days holiday plus 11 days bank holidays
