Hutcheon Mearns are supporting a global business with a manufacturing base in Dundee to recruit for a Cost Analyst.  You will join a business that operates in over 30 countries and that has grown significantly through acquisition in the last 5 years, while investing heavily in its' Scottish business.  This is an organisation that can offer progression opportunities both in the UK and internationally and previous Cost Analysts have progressed into Financial Controller positions.  

The Opportunity 

This position is central to the finance function and will support the manufacturing operations, providing clear cost reporting and management.  Liaising with stakeholders in Manufacturing and local and Global finance teams, you will play a highly visible role in the finance team.  This job opportunities will involve a blend of accounting, costing and finance business partnering, offering a well-rounded remit for the right candidate.  Key responsibilities will include; 

  • Preparation of monthly cost reports with commentary, variance analysis and proposed actions 
  • Pro-actively driving cost control which will involve understanding product cost trends, driving cost reductions and controlling fixed costs 
  • Supporting the product cost tracking program and reporting to deadlines 
  • Financial control of inventory 
  • Ownership of Standard Cost setting process, working heavily with Manufacturing and finance colleagues
  • Input into budget, business planning and forecasting cycles 
  • Supporting factory wide cost projects 

Background and Experience 

You will have a proven track record in a manufacturing / FMCG or related sector as well as the ability to engage proactively and influence stakeholders at all levels.  You may be a Qualified Accountant or have relevant experience.  A strong communicator who has the ability to communicate financial information to a wide audience, you will bring enthusiasm and passion to your role and work well in a team and autonomously.
