Hutcheon Mearns is delighted to partner with a client in the Renewable Energy sector that has experienced a period of sustained growth. Due to this, they are looking for a Bookkeeper to join their organisation on a permanent basis. This position will be remote, with some requirement to travel to West Lothian for on-site meetings, candidates must be located within Scotland.
The Opportunity
Our client operates within the renewable energy sector and has seen significant growth due to winning lucrative contracts. The finance function is being moved in-house, and this role will play a key part in the organisation's ongoing financial success. Your responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:
- Processing purchase invoices
- Managing payment runs
- Addressing and resolving queries
- Performing bank reconciliations
- Chasing debtors
- Completing VAT returns
- Reporting on aged debt
- Conducting credit card reconciliations
- Assisting with year-end and month-end duties
Background and Experience
The ideal candidate will have prior experience as a Finance Assistant, with a solid understanding of the Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable functions. This role offers the opportunity for professional development by gradually introducing month-end duties. Key personal qualifications include:
- Exceptional attention to detail
- Experience with ERP systems
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel (including VLOOKUP and Pivot Tables)
- Professional communication skills, both verbal and written
- Ability to work effectively as part of a team as well as independently
Flexibility and Benefits
The role of Assistant Accountant offers the following package:
- £30,000 to £35,000 per annum (depending on experience)
- Remote working – must be able to travel to West Lothian for on-site meetings
