Hutcheon Mearns are delighted to be partnering with an organisation in North Fife to recruit for the post of Assistant Accountant on a Fixed Term Contract until 30th November 2025. This is a pivotal post within the organisation, supporting the Senior Management Accountant with budget preparation, budget monitoring, month-end and year-end accounting as well as providing a wide range of Financial Advice and support to other groups. You will be joining an organisation that prides itself on being world-renowned in its' sector.
The Opportunity
Reporting to the Senior Management Accountant, you will be responsible for:
- Budget Management - providing advice and support, whilst reporting any areas of concern to management for review
- Budgets and Forecasts - assist in preparation of budgets and forecasts. Revising on a monthly basis
- Input and Preparation of accruals, prepayments and journal entries with supporting documentation
- Carry out financial reviews and any budget virements required after department meetings in line with Financial Framework
- Provide help and assistance to the Senior Management Accounts in delivering their Business Partnering Strategy, and Strategic Planning process.
- Assisting in the design and implementation of reporting tools, new systems and procedures
- Maintenance of Finance coding structure, and reporting. Carrying out data housekeeping tasks regularly.
- Supporting and training Finance Assistants with the Finance Team to help develop skills
The Successful Candidate
- You will ideally have a relevant Accountancy Qualification (HND, HNC or Degree).
- You will have experience of business partnering, budget forecasting and planning
- Developing reports, project or product costing, variance analysis
- Excellent communicator, excellent prioritisation skills
- You will thrive on challenge and a varied role
- You will have a positive attitude, and well organised ensuring deadlines are met
- You should possess excelled IT skills, and a sound knowledge of Excel
- Knowledge of Oracle Fusion would be beneficial but not essential
