Hutcheon Mearns are delighted to be working with a technology services business in Dundee to recruit an Assistant Accountant to their finance team.  You will join an organisation with a strong history in Dundee that operates across a number of sectors and have operations in the UK and internationally.  Reporting into the Finance Manager, you will take on a key role in the team, supporting the preparation of management accounts for a number of companies in the group.  This is a fantastic opportunity for an individual with experience supporting the month-end reporting process, looking to take on a varied and interesting role. 

The Opportunity 

Reporting to the Finance Manager, as the Assistant Accountant, your role will involve; 

  • Supporting the preparation of management accounts 
  • Balance sheet reconciliations 
  • Accruals and prepayments 
  • Journals 
  • Bank reconciliations 
  • Sales invoicing 
  • Weekly debt reporting
  • Expense claims and credit card processing 
  • Extracting, checking and preparing payroll data for outsourced payroll company 
  • Preparation of wages journals and appropriate recharges 
  • Supporting Accounts Assistant with Accounts Payable and Receivable queries

The Candidate

You will ideally have proven experience of a varied role within a finance team and will have experience and knowledge of Accounts Payable, Receivable.Credit control and Payroll processes.  Experience working for a company with multiple entities would be highly advantageous.  Strong Excel skills are important as much of the reporting for this organisation is undertaken on Excel, alongside the use of a bespoke ERP system.  Ability to pick up systems and accurately manage financial data, will be key.  Ideally you will have an Accountancy qualification (HND/AAT or part-qualified ACCA/CIMA) and experience working in a role in industry.  

You will be a pro-active individual who will embrace problem solving and can work to reporting deadlines.  You will work within a team and be willing to chip in with the team as required to achieve reporting deadlines.

You will receive a competitive salary, contributory pension scheme (5% matched) and hours of work are 37.5 hours per week with an early finish on a Friday (2pm)  This is an office-based role and there is flexibility on start/finish times.
