Hutcheon Mearns have been engaged by our E&P client to source an Asset Accountant on a maternity cover contract (initial 12 months). This role will be based in Aberdeen City Centre on a hybrid basis with flexible working hours and a competitive day rate. You will support the Lead Asset Accountant, providing day-to-day finance function support for all JV Asset financial matters.
The Opportunity
- Support the Lead Asset Accountant with monthly accounting for asset matters per the month end timetable
- Prepare and issue joint venture billings, ensuring compliance with joint operating agreements
- Participate in year-end statutory audit by providing information as required
- Monthly reporting of actuals and in year forecast for all assets, including income statement, capex, and abandonment expenditure
- Attend and participate in operator committee meetings and FinComs on behalf of company
- Provide support for joint venture audits as operator and participate on behalf of company for non-operated assets
- Ensure compliance with the AFE process including maintenance of AFE register and ensuring adherence to delegation of authority
- Provide other business support as required including satisfying all JOA finance requirements
- Provide assistance for all transition matters in relation to asset acquisitions including integration of asset into all reporting and handover of data from seller
- Provide assistance for any systems implementations
- Balance sheet reconciliations for all assigned balances
Background and Experience
- Previous experience of joint venture accounting in an E&P company
- Qualified accountant, either by professional body or by experience at an equivalent level
- Experience of SAP S4 an advantage
- Strong accounting knowledge
- Motivated, and comfortable working in a fast-paced, growing company
