Accounts Payable Assistant

Hutcheon Mearns is delighted to be engaged by our client, a well-established and growing business with a reputation for innovation and a stable, supportive finance team, to support their search for an Accounts Payable Assistant. This is a permanent role based in their Edinburgh office, offering a hybrid working model and a salary of up to £30,000.

Role Overview

Reporting directly to the Finance Manager, the Accounts Payable Assistant will play a key role in ensuring the smooth and efficient running of the AP process. You will be responsible for high-volume transactional work, supplier management, and maintaining accuracy across all payable activities.

Key Responsibilities

  • Process a high volume of supplier invoices
  • Coordinate and execute BACS payment runs (domestic and international)
  • Manage vendor relationships and handle supplier onboarding
  • Process staff expenses and direct debit payments
  • Ensure accurate coding and posting of invoices
  • Perform supplier statement reconciliations
  • Monitor and manage the shared finance mailbox
  • Investigate and resolve supplier queries in a timely manner

Candidate Profile

We are keen to speak with individuals who can demonstrate:

  • Proven experience in a high-volume Accounts Payable environment
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including vLookups and Pivot Tables
  • Experience using finance systems such as Sage, Xero, QuickBooks, or similar
