Hutcheon Mearns are delighted to be supporting our client in the marine infrastructure industry to recruit an Accounts Assistant on a full time, permanent basis. The role will be based from our clients’ offices in Kingswells with hybrid working on offer.
The Opportunity
The Accounts Assistant will support the finance team with month end activities and maintenance of the general ledger. Duties will include:
- Maintain fixed asset register monthly by adding new assets, booking depreciation for all companies and updating month end accounting packs for capex spend against budget, explaining variances.
- Posting of Credit card transactions and monthly reconciliations –liaising with employees to ensure all receipts are received in a timely manner. And liaising with AP to ensure bank payments and statements reconcile.
- Meeting month end deadlines by allocating of shore maintenance costs and Audit accruals
- Management of Prepayments schedules and additions
- Preparing Balance Sheet Recs for multiple entities and resolving unreconciling issues
- Prepare intercompany account reconciliations to ensure accuracy and completeness of financial data.
- Assist in the foreign exchange revaluation process, including review of related accounting entries
- Preparing and accruing Partners Equalisation and Management fees
- Support month end closing tasks with preparation and input of ad-hoc journals as required
- Help prepare and file tax returns - Submit Fuel Duty claim to HMRC in a timely manner, prepare VAT returns for small legal entities.
- Tax Compliance Documentation - Maintenance of Fixed Asset Descriptions and Legal fees for Year End Tax Packs
- Prepare ONS surveys, ensuring compliance with reporting requirements
- Set up of manual payments in banking portal
Background and experience
The successful candidate will have two years of experience in a similar role. You will also have a keen eye for detail, be able to use initiative, and have excellent communication skills. You will be flexible in your approach to work and happy to pick up ad hoc tasks as required.
